Chapter 23
Amara was in the cab, clutching her backpack in her hold tightly as she looked out of the window. It was still dark outside, considering it was three-thirty in the morning. She touched the window through her fingers, she was finally leaving the city that witnessed her destruction. Although there was a sense of relief that she was finally leaving the city, there was also fear deep inside her heart of what the future holds for her.
She heaved a breath and turned her gaze from the window towards the cab driver. He was wearing a mask and was strangely muscular, like one of those guys who can take down a few men at a time.
"Are you alright?" She asked him in a small voice, wondering if he was wearing the mask because he had a cold. The man looked at her through the rear mirror and gave her a stiff nod.
"I am."
"I have medicine with me for cold. You can have them if you want, it will make you feel better." She said gently and watched as the man stiffened hearing her.
